The PlayStation 3 was Sony’s addition to the seventh generation of video game consoles (Wii and Xbox 360) and was released in North America on November 17, 2006. It was the first console to use Blu-ray Disc as its primary storage medium. the first PlayStation to introduce and integrate Sony’s social gaming services, the PlayStation Network, and also provided remote connectivity with the PlayStation Portable and Vita handheld systems. a Slim and Super Slim version of the console was released in subsequent years.
