The PlayStation 2 (or PS2) is a home video game console that was developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on October 26, 2000 in North America, and is the second installment in the PlayStation lineup of consoles. The PlayStation 2 was insanely successful, being the greatest selling console to date with over 155 million units sold. It has the largest gaming library of any console and was final discontinued after 13 years of production – one of the longest runs for a video game console as well.
