The Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES) is an 8-bit home video game console that was developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was released in North America in 1985 and would go on to be the best-selling gaming console for over a decade. In 2009, the NES was named the single greatest video game console in history by IGN.
