South Park is a first-person shooter video game based off its namesake show. The PlayStation port was developed by Appaloosa Interactive in 1999. When I got this game as a kid I was like, “Hell yes! A South Park video game!” Yes, it’s littered with comedic relief paralleling the show, and the story is just as bonkers as a classic episode. They even popped in a versus mode. How could this be bad?

Well, that magic wore off after about 10 minutes of playing this God-awful game. It’s a perfect example of how something could seem so perfect on paper, yet fail so badly in real life. They forced that beautiful paper cut-out world into the very first stage 3D graphics of the time. The comedy is fun to start (yellow snowballs, bazookas that launch cows, etc.), but it’s pretty lowbrow, even for teenagers. If you get a laugh out of anything, the lack of options and thus painful repetition will kill any punch line after you do it for the umpteenth time.

like Cartman’s mom… before the itching starts.

Fun to mess around with, but probably not worth your collection.
